Buxtehude: Membra Jesu Nostri

Join conductor, Nicholas Hurndall Smith, bass soloist Adam Hilton and Lancaster Priory Choir & Friends for a special meditation on Christ’s Passion. Accompanied by string ensemble, the music event on Good Friday brings the Easter section of Messiah, and four short cantatas from Buxtehude’s fabulous Membra Jesu Nostri. Each of these is addressed to a part of Jesus’ crucified body: feet, hands, side and face. The programme is framed by Thomas Tomkins’ A Sad Pavan for these Distracted Times, and interspersed with short spoken meditations.

If you are an audience member you are invited to reserve your place in advance. There is limited seating for this meditation so advance booking is recommended. Tickets aren’t required but donations as suggested at the booking point will be gratefully received. Anything you give goes towards the staging of this event along with the work and mission of Lancaster Priory.
